Twitter functions we wish existed

Started by EricFriedman · 1 year ago

I was recently browsing Twitter and began thinking about the instant nature of everyone posting. As I have said before there are many conversations happening live on Twitter that may never get blogged. This got me started on this blog post about features that I wish existed. It is a culmination of […] ... Continue reading »

  • Add this to the list...

Multiple delete for direct messages. Right now you have to delete them 1 at a time... :(
  • Nice one. That would be a nice feature...
  • hey check this is very interesting for twitters http://www.twhirl.org/
  • Twhirl is one of the best AIR programs I have seen. Not that there are that
many:) but it is definitely work a look and definitely worth it for Twitter
    power users.

  • I want to be able to sort people in the search function by how recently they have tweeted. Its crap that I have to look through pages and pages of people with a certain interest to find someone that has updated in the past month or so. I don't want to slog through all of the people that started an account a year or more ago, tweeted once (or never) and left the site. Its just stupid, and a basic function that is so glaringly missing. What is up with that? Am I just blind and don't see some button right in front of my face? If so, please tell me where it is.
  • Hi Angela,

I feel your pain. I am not sure of such a feature, but I am sure your
comment is not alone. Hopefully this will get fixed soon. I know there are
multiple accounts that rarely get used and bog down the search system...
  • Thanks for this post, it was very usefull to me.
We are currently working on a client for twitter, that would actually have the most features listed here. If you have some spare time please follow "TwittPulse" or drop me an e-mail to twittpulse (a) gmail.com so I can share some productions designs and see if we get everything right.
  • Thanks for the follow up. I would love to checkout the client when it goes
into beta. I appreciate that someone is rounding up all the "requests" for
Twitter and doing something about it. I would love to cover it here once it
    is finished too.
  • How about spell check, and alphabetical listing for your followers, so you can find one when you want to look them up to write to them!
  • That would be very helpful!
  • It would be very cool to have a " special peeps" timeline other that just having replies and DMs. Now that I'm following so many peeps, I miss some of my favs until I go and look at their tweets page.

How about a " sort/search" feature on your following and followers pages? By alpha-name as mentioned previously, by following back, by date started following, maybe even just a find by name search instead of going through all the pages by alpha.

Another idea is something I can use at work on a T-1 line but not at home on a DSL for some reason, when on T-1, I can look through my follows and it gives me an option to DM each person who is following me back. At home on DSL I have to go to that person's indiv. page to see if I can DM them.

One other oddity, what determines who shows up each time I go to my pull down menu in send DM area? It is only ever a partial list of who is following me back. Even peeps who I know are following me don't show up there. It's very random, but a fix for that would be awesome.

thanks for everything GREAT ab Twitter btw! LOVE IT!

  • Your first point would definitely be great - Groups.

Follows with meta data would be great also - like I know I want to find
someone I followed 2 weeks ago.

Not sure why you can browse so much faster on your T-1 line - perhaps its
    just a slowness issue.

I think the final point is just a matter of typing in someones name and they
will show up. It could be the last people you followed.

    Thanks for making these suggestions!
